I trained, originally, as a psychiatric nurse and then continued work on the regional secure unit for a total of 10 years at the Maidstone Hospital. As well as counselling, I also qualified in massage.
Following a back injury, for which I tried a variety of treatments, I was eventually introduced to McTimoney Chiropractic. It worked so well for me that I was hooked!
I trained at the McTimoney College of Chiropractic, Abingdon, qualifying in 1992 and set up the Coxheath Chiropractic Clinic in 1993.
I have worked at the college since qualifying as both a clinical and practical tutor and continue my role as technique instructor to the present day. Recently I have returned to the college to further my education and am studying towards my Masters.
Outside of work I enjoy sport. I have a 1st Dan black belt in Karate and run a weekly class in Coxheath. In 2010 I ran my second London Marathon raising funds for cancer charities. My claim to fame: In 2009, as part of our team, Coxheath 'til I pie, we became the Official World Custard Pie Champions.
I started my career working in an eventing yard, grooming and riding horses for competition. During this time I recognised the need for good structural alignment for both horse and rider, in order for them to reach their optimum potential. Whilst working there I gained my HGV driving licence.
It was this work with equine athletes that sparked my interest in chiropractic and lead me to commence training on the 5 year programme at the McTimoney College of Chiropractic in Abingdon, near Oxford, where I gained my Bsc (Hons) in December 2009.
Whilst at the college I met Alasdair Smith, an experienced tutor on the human course, and he invited me to join him at The Coxheath Chiropractic Centre.
In 2009 I also completed the International Academy of Veterinary Chiropractic course, and I now treat horses and dogs in Kent and East Sussex as well as at international competitions such as the European Eventing Championships in France, 2009 and Badminton Horse Trials.
In my spare time I enjoy snorkelling, scuba and free-diving and have worked as a Divemaster at overseas training centres.
